How to use an email alias for your child's account

Many common email providers allow you to use email aliases, which still deliver messages to your main inbox.

Gmail supports aliases by letting you add a plus sign to your address (for example, janedoe+math@gmail.com ). Dots in the address don’t matter, so jane.doe@gmail.com  and janedoe@gmail.com  go to the same inbox.

Outlook / Hotmail allows aliases through your Microsoft account and often supports plus addressing as well, such as janedoe+student@outlook.com .

iCloud Mail (Apple) lets you create up to three aliases and also offers “Hide My Email” for extra privacy. Messages sent to an alias still arrive in your main iCloud inbox.

Yahoo Mail offers disposable email addresses and supports plus addressing like janedoe+school@yahoo.com .

Proton Mail supports plus aliases, and paid plans allow multiple separate email addresses.

Why Use an Alias for Your Child?

Using an alias allows you to receive all Compass Classroom related emails in one place while keeping your child’s account separate from your account. It also lets you stay in control of notifications, logins, and password resets, without your child needing direct access to the email inbox unless you choose to allow it.
